SO...... I forgot to mention in my last post...
My daughters love each other. No, they REALLY love each other. In fact, the other day when I was rolling my cart around Costco, I was slightly annoyed that they have these (what I thought was) great carts that can hold two small humans in the top. Well, my girls think they are on display when I roll them around in this cart and they feel as though they are in a parade, what with all the waving the do and all the "Hi's" they give.
But today they were really putting on a show and giving each other lots and lots of kisses........ and I don't mean just cute little sisterly pecks on the cheek..... I mean full blown, tongue involved, eyes closed, arms wrapped around each other, open mouthed, kisses that lasted, no joke, about 10 minutes at a time. This was not the mommy moment of, yes, my kids are cute and give an agreeing smile to those who smile at them or comment on cute they are. This was a "quick-get-around-the-corner-turn-my-head-these-are-not-my-kids" embarrassing mommy moment. And there was nothing I could do about it. They were just into it. I tried saying, "okay, that's enough love:, okay girls, how about you take a breath there", "how about we don't do that here?" and countless other "nice" ways to stop them. Oh, and trying to physically (and causually) pull them apart didn't work either. And when they did finally stop (and I could take a sigh of relief), they would giggle and start it up again......... AHHHHHHH!!!!!!
The whole time, I just see people out of the corner of my eye looking at them. People start to smile and laugh a bit, but then when they realize that they are STILL kissing, they start to get worried and raise their eyebrows and begin to lower their heads and slowly turn down the next aisle. Like they are saying to me through their minds, "where did they learn THAT?" or "what is that mother teaching them?" or "She must let them watch some bad shows on TV" All to which I can say, I am wondering the SAME thing! I can't remember the last time I kissed someone like that........ haha. My husband's response was "who's coming over when I'm at work, and what are you doing with him?" Uh huh, right, honey. We all know how touchy feely I am.... or am NOT! haha.
Anyway, I just had to be sure and tell this horrifying story. I fear going back into Costco for a while since I don't want to be known as the "mom of those girls who were making out!" I think I will give it a week or two..... maybe 3?

Sharing the Wealth....
So I have started "couponing". I say this lightly since I have always clipped, saved and used coupons, but never to this extent and never have I been so organized with it and actually paid attention to the sales and matched my coupons with the great deals I already find with the sales going on. I have found a great blog that I now follow (among a few others). www.thekrazycouponlady.com She is fabulous and has links to (almost) all the stores in my area (I believe she is from Washington somewhere) and the great deals they have for the week.
This week, I have found out that Albertsons will have doubler coupons in the Sunday paper! You can also go to the store and get them, but must get there early Sunday because they run out of them that same day! Take your husband so he can get extras for you!
I am so glad I found this out since I was planning to go shopping there tomorrow for what I thought were great deals already! But this just makes those deals SO much sweeter! I will show you a sneak peek into what I am buying:
~Oreos: Reg price is 2.99, on sale for 1.99. I have a coupon for $1 off of 2 which will be doubled to $2 off of 2, which will make them .99 cents each when I buy 2!!! Whoo Hoo!
~Bulls Eye BBQ sauce, on sale for 79 cents. (when you buy a total of 10 items from their 1,200 items listed) I have a coupon for .50 cents off of 1, making the product .29 cents! I could double this coupon and make it FREE! but I don't think I will. If they paid you for coupon overage, I definitely would!
~Dan-o-nino yogurts, 4 pack, on sale for $2, I have a coupon for $1 off of 1 which will double to $2 off of 1, making the item FREE!!
~Danimals drinkable smoothies, 6 pack, on sale for $2, I have a coupon for $1/1, which will double to $2/1, making them FREE!!
~both of these items (Dan-o-mino and Danimals) are a part of a special they are running right now where if you buy 4 products, you get a gallon of milk FREE!
~~So..... I will buy 2 Dan-o-nino 4 packs and 2 Danimals smoothies (which the girls LOVE!). Because you can only double 3 coupons per transaction, I will double 3 of them, get a FREE gallon of milk and pay only $1!! Whoo Hoo!~~
I have been really enjoying this whole couponing thing lately! It's quite fun to take on the challenge to find the best deals! And I have been going to the recycling center once a week to get coupons out of the newspaper recycle bins, and it's quite the thrill to see how much "money" you can find there! I have ran into other people looking for other things, too, which I think it's hilarious! One guy I was talking to was searching the bins for box tops for his kids to take to school......! How sweet! People throw the box tops away ALL the time (including me!) and they can actually help schools out a lot!
Anyway, Hannah has finally woken up, so I need to go get her. I will do another post soon, I believe. I thought of something to post yesterday, but have forgotten.... so perhaps I will remember..... for now, I will leave you with this funny girl. I title this picture "I CAN DO IT MYSELF!" haha.
Oh..... and I almost forgot! If you go to http://www.aquafresh.com/Savings.aspx you can print coupons for $1 off of aquafresh toothpaste! It allows 2 prints per coupon per computer! And right now, Safeway has these on sale for .99 cents! Yes, this would mean they are FREE! Enjoy!

A quick little update!
This week has been super busy..... as usual. But this weekend has been nice so far. We had a few invites different things, but we decided to spend this weekend with just the four of us. Well, okay, I take that back. We decided to spend TODAY with just the four of us...... haha. With such a large family, it's a rarity around here. I thought we'd take today to actually get some stuff done around here and maybe let the girls jump into their swimming pool for the first time, but the weather is not cooperating with us! Yesterday was so nice out and bright and sunny.... and today it's overcast and randomly raining. Not good news for the neighbors, whose daughter is getting married today!
Last weekend, Shawn's family came over and we celebrated Alyssa's graduation from Lawrence University. She will be going to the University of Arizona starting this fall for her graduate school. We had a good time with a BBQ and played some bocce ball and ate a lot!
Sunday, KaeLee finally pooped in the toilet! YAY KaeLee!! She pooped twice in one day, in fact. Then did it the next day...... and hasn't since. Argh. I thought we had finally hit a home run, but apparently it may have been a fluke. :(
I got my new dishes last week and I think I love them. They are not anything like what I imagined myself buying, but they are growing on me more and more each day. They are burgundy and black with white petals on them. That's actually a horrible description.....!
Last night, I ordered KaeLee some new bed sheets! Yay! Do you know how hard it is to find a flat sheet for a toddler bed without buying an entire bed set? Argh. It was tough. We decided that she needs to have actual bedding that is tucked into her bed because she moves around at night, taking her barely-big-enough blankets off of her, and then she wakes up cold and wants them put back on. We are tired of going up there every hour in the middle of the night! So hopefully this will help. Hannah has been waking up quite a bit lately too, so I ordered some teething gel with her diaper order yesterday, as well, to see if that is the problem. And I am not sure if I have mentioned that she has been super clingy and fussy and goes into full-tantrum mode if I walk around the corner, but she does. And it's quite irritating. I love that she loves her momma. But I would love it even more, if they were "moments" of being a mama's girl instead of a 24/7 thing. It's really starting to wear on me and gets very frustrating.
Then there is KaeLee, who is definitely NOT a mama's girl and has been showing QUITE the attitude lately! She likes to tell me "Don't talk to me". Um, excuse me? I'm your mother and I am pretty sure I will talk to you if I want to talk to you! And the other night, I was getting dinner ready and this was our conversation:
ME: "KaeLee, it's almost time to get up in your chair for dinner!"
KAELEE: "NO! two more minutes!"
ME: "Yes, that's what 'almost' means. You have two more minutes until you need to get up in your chair.
KAELEE: OOOkAAAYYYY! (very drawn out and with a TON of attitude!)
two minutes go by....
ME: KaeLee, your two minutes is over. I need you to get up in your chair now please.
KAELEE: NO Mom! I can't eat dinner now, I HAVE to make a PHONE CALL! (said while her hands on her hips and bobbing her head back and forth while waving the phone at me like, DUH)
Me: (groaning) I'll put Hannah up first, but you'd go get up in your chair. You can play with your phone after dinner.
after I get Hannah situated (by the way, Shawn is not home)....
ME: KAELEE! Get up in your chair now please. If I have to tell you again, you be in time out!
KAELEE: (groaning and talks into her phone) I have to go. Bye bye.
ME: Thank you. Do you want me to help you?
KAELEE: NO! I can do it myself. All by myself. (then she breaks out into song and starts singing the 'All by myself' song from Barney)
This is how my daily conversations go with her and the little attitude gets old real quick. I'm sure it's quite hilarious to anyone else listening to it, but I am oh so tired of it. I remember my mom always getting mad at us and saying "why do you wait until I start yelling at you before you listen?!" and now I am saying the same thing to KaeLee....... UH OH.
ANYway..... I should probably get back to attempting to be productive today and get some laundry done at least. Yay for laundry. (eyes are rolling drastically.....) Enjoy a few random pictures. And I hope YOU are having a great weekend! Oh, and HAPPY FATHERS DAY! :)
Hannah is always on the go!
Silly girl!
Another silly girl!
And KaeLee's always on the run too!
But they CAN be sweet and adorable....
Awe, aren't they CUTE?!?!
Naked Hannah getting ready for a bath!
My two little froggies after bath. Hannah loves to give her sissy hugs!
It looks like she's telling her a secret... haha. But she's really giving her a kiss. How sweet
Outside playing ring around the rosie
"And we all fall down!"
Hannah has a new fascination with picking the grass.
There she goes again....
This is how I let Hannah play with the playdough..... haha. Otherwise she eats it, shoves it into crevasses it should be in or ends up in her ears, her hair, her clothes... and EVERYwhere it shouldn't!

I'm a Power Mom.
So Shawn and I made a stop at Hastings last week for a "book run". He was looking for a new book to take on the plane with him and I was looking for a new book for "just because". Well, I had originally picked up a Lurlene McDaniel book because I absolutely LOVE her books! (yes, even though they are in the teen section.... haha) but then I went over to where Shawn was and noticed the Chicken Soup books. I used to collect these books (and still have them!) but for some reason I didn't know they were still making them. I browsed through them and found a gazillion of them I didn't have and soon had a very tough choice on my hands. I found one, though, called "Power Moms". I had never heard of this term, but since I was a mom, I was drawn to it. I read it a little more and realized its about stay at home moms. So I bought it. I am only about 40 pages into and I have to you: it has changed my heart!
For the last few months, I have really struggled with my identity. Who am I and what on earth do I have to offer the world? I have no purpose in life and am making absolutely NO contribution to society. And on top of that, the few things I am doing, I am being criticized and belittled. What was the purpose of my college degree, working my butt off to pay for my schooling and then not using it? What a waste of 5 years (yes it took me a bit longer.) and a waste of my money that I worked long, hard hours for. And a waste of my talents. I don't know any other stay at home moms. My age, anyway. I know OF some, but we're not the best of buds. These days, in a new city, spending all my time couped up in the house, or the occasional outing, or out for a walk, there are not many moms to be found. Yes, I could muster up the energy to go the story times, but haven't yet. I am not a "hannah". She is quite the social butterfly.
ANYWAY, on to my point......
So I am only about 40 pages into this book (yes, I read them in order. I never used to, and would just skip around, but these days my memory is that of a goldfish and I could read the same story 4 times without knowing I already read it!) and I have already been inspired. I am NOT the only stay at home mom who struggled with this idea. Who didn't necessarily WANT to be a stay at home mom. It was more of a common sense decision. I was basically only working to pay for daycare. And the point of that was what.....? I have always liked the idea of a stay at home mom, but after experiencing my maternity leave, I just wasn't so sure about it. When I was at home, I longed to be at work with normal adults, speaking in normal, mature conversations. When I was at work, I longed to be at home, doing nothing but staring at my beautiful babies and watching them sleep and making silly faces for them. But there are women in this book who struggled as I have and have come out on top. They have been changed and have found their "power".
One woman says, "As a mother, you can't see the results of your work for years. So much of it is intangible, but that does not mean that it is any less important than any kind of job or title of any kind."
I am anxious to read the rest of the book. I have only finish the first "chapter" about making the decision to stay home. I look forward to the other chapters about learning to juggle, finding joy and self esteem in everyday moments, the power of friendship and sharing perspectives from grateful husbands and children and more.
Being a stay at home mom is not a glamorous job. If I complain about it, it is for the same reasons other women complain about their "real" jobs: It is hard and the people you work with are not the most cooperative. haha. I am often, though, embarrassed to tell people what I "do" for a living. It is unfortunate that we, as a society, are still turning our noses to this job and that I have to live the stereotypes that come along with it. (Watch TV all day, never got a proper education, shop constantly....and the other thousand to go along with them). I used to laugh when I heard of a mom who stayed at home with her children but sent them to daycare a couple days a week. Wasn't that the point of her not working outside the home? But now, I find myself in longing for that same situation just so that I can get caught up on grocery shopping, cleaning the bathrooms, mopping the floors...... etc etc. The to-do list is never ending around here, though I do feel like in the last few days I have gotten a TON accomplished. Perhaps because I have only had 2 people around that I had to entertain instead of three..... haha. No offense, honey.... ;)
Sorry for the babbling. In other news, Shawn flys into Seattle late tonight. He has been in Wisconsin since Friday for his sister's graduation from Lawrence University. I was dreading the four days without a break, but it hasn't been so bad. This morning, though, seemed to drag on and on. I couldn't get them down for a nap fast enough! Finally, at 12:25, I got them into bed (25 minutes behind normal schedule...!) and I collasped into the chair exhausted! I cuddled up with my lunch and the girls from The Talk, and had a few good laughs because of the hilarious Leah Remini. After I was done with lunch, I was trying to get motivated to finish cleaning the bathrooms when I hear Hannah start crying. I thought, "you have got to be kidding me"! I looked at the clock. 1:35. I ran up there to try and snatch her up before she woke KaeLee up, but with no such luck, I was downstairs, both girls on my lap (as they were still very tired) and watching Barney. Argh. So much for that break.
Something odd that has started happening around here is with Hannah. I have been taking the girls shopping lately, to get them out of the house. They love to be around people and pretend like they are in a parade, so I take them to the mall, Costco, the grocery store, Fred Meyer, Shopko, Target.... wherever. (I have been looking like crazy for some new dishes the last week or so..... .which is another story in itself...). But the odd thing is that just in the last week, every time we get to a check out, Hannah starts crying. We ended up going to Costco twice last week, and she did this both times. I thought it was weird since she's never done it before, but I thought it must just be because she is on the other side of the checkout from me. But then she did it at Shopko..... and again at Top Foods. And then, yesterday we went to Fred Meyer to get bananas and she did it again. What is going on with her? Has she really grown to like shopping that much? Strange. Poor cashiers all seem to think it's them.
She has also started to cry a lot more, just in general. She is to the point where she starting to become more independent (in every way except the one I want: playing by herself...!). She all of a sudden thinks she's old enough to buckle her own car seat, buckle herself into the booster chair, rinse herself off in the bathtub, put her own shoes on, put the puzzles together..... and the list goes on. The problem is that she really can't do any of these things herself yet and throws a scream fest when you try to help her. It is SO frustrating. So every time we go to get into the car, I just have to brace myself for another screaming session. I put her in her chair and give her the chance to buckle herself while I go around and put KaeLee in. I come back around and try to help her, but she won't have it, so I have to just do it myself while she arches her back and screams. It's quite annoying. I don't mind being patient and letting her do it; I already do that with KaeLee (sometimes not so patiently....), but she physically can't do it yet and no matter how long she tries at this point, she is not going to get it. Argh.
Yesterday we went for a walk after dinner and went a different route than the usual. I walked through the Briarwood neighborhood, and oh my goodness, there are SO many beautiful homes there! They are all SUPER nice and have perfect lawns with immaculate landscaping. It was a gorgeous walk and I was in awe the entire walk. On our way back home, I heard a "neighhhhh" behind me. I though "what the......!?!?!" I turned around and it was a horse! haha. You don't see many horses walking around on the streets. The girls were just as in shock as I was. They were speechless, actually. haha. The lady on the horse was kind and said hello to them and the girls watching the horse trot down the road (okay, he was walking, not trotting.) A little further down the road, KaeLee says, "wow. I like horses. I want a horsie too." To that I said "Good luck with that. That's what you have Aunt Cheryl for. If you are lucky enough maybe someday you'll get invited over to ride one." and she said "Yeah. And I ride one with baby Jake." haha. She calls him baby Jake because she never sees him other than the pictures on the wall (where he is a baby). Poor girl. I'm just surprised that she knows that Aunt Cheryl is Jake's mom. Although, I suppose you never see one without the other...... haha.
Anyway, I suppose that is a long enough blog for now. The girls are beginning to fight. I think it's time for a diversion and perhaps a trip outside to get the mail. I have some cute pictures too, but maybe next time

"I'm Makin Water!"
Why Hello All!! And Hello June!
I can't believe it's been so long since I wrote last. These days have just been flying by! September will be here before I know it! It seems like I was just saying that from last summer. The summer is (for the most part) here and I got my fill of the heat this last weekend!! Ever since we have been back (well, it actually started Sunday evening) I have been having the worst headaches and feeling nauseous and dizzy.... ugh. It has not been a pleasant feeling, really. Shawn and I have joked (half heartily, nervously, and while biting our fingernails....) that I am probably pregnant..... haha.... but I think it was just the sun and the heat and from being outside all weekend. Yes, I realize that the sun was only out half the time, and the "heat" was considered low 70's, but mainly, I believe it is from squinting so much since i never wore any sunglasses. My eyes are bad enough as it is, then to squint 24/7 makes my head throb and my eyes were just burning and exhausted by the end of the weekend. I think it's probably time to go get a new eyeglass prescription. Or contacts. I can't remember at this point which one I had done last. Maybe I will just get them both??? Too bad I don't quite qualify for the laser eye surgery, or I think I may just be all over that one! I'm tired of my eyes changing every year!
Anyway, what has happened in the last while since I wrote? Well, I had a birthday and turned a year older. Funny thing is that I have been thinking I was already 27 for quite some time now, but apparently I was 26 the whole time.... oops. I can honestly say that I am ready for my 30's. I'm tired of being a 20-something. I want to move up to the next bracket. Yes, I realize that this is opposite of what "normal" people think, but I am just ready to move on. I feel like being in my 20's brings a huge stereotype that I am completely annoyed by. I am tired of people thinking that I am "too young" for whatever they think I am too young for. Or, I am tired of people thinking that I am a partier, still in school, or that I was "immature" to have gotten married and had children and CHOSE to be a stay at home mom in my 20's. Maybe in my 30's more people will take me seriously, respect my opinions, and maybe I will obtain some credibility for my life "experiences". We'll see.
For my birthday, we (shawn, the girls and I) went to Red Robin for lunch. Then we had a bunch of people come over for a barbecue that evening. I think there was about 20 of us here. Maybe a few more? I had a good day overall, but Shawn definitely learned a lesson..... haha. Next year, we will have just cake and ice cream at the house. If people want dinner, they can join us at the nearest Olive Garden. haha. Shawn got me a TV for the kitchen for me! I love it and am so excited about it! I can watch Good Morning America now in the kitchen while I am making my coffee, getting the girls' breakfast ready, eating some breakfast myself and catching up on my emails (my morning routine while the girls watch Sesame Street...) and I can watch the news in the evening while making dinner! I never get to watch the news anymore because the kitchen is not in view of the TV and that's the time I would get to watch it, was during "cooking dinner" time. Although, I also don't really have any local news anymore. I have to watch either Spokane or Seattle news, which is strange. I've never lived in a town that doesn't have a local news channel before!
Since I wrote last, my mother in law and my step dad both had birthdays as well! The girls and I also made a day trip to Yakima to visit my step mom. Both of my sisters came over and I was able to see them too and their kids. (well, some of them) Lola is getting so big already! KaeLee and Hannah both enjoyed playing with Layla for the day and loved seeing their cousin Andrew as well.
Then all of us (shawn, the girls and I) went down for Yakima for the day the day before my birthday, to celebrate my dad's birthday and just to hang our for the day. Shawn also had to fix a couple of things at the house for the buyers. He had to put a new garbage disposal in and fix the fence bracket. But our house is finally sold and we are rid of it!! Whoo Hoo!! I am happy to be done with that payment! :)
This last weekend, for Memorial weekend, we went to Ephrata and went camping at Oasis Park. I love it there. My whole extended family has gone every year for the past..... I don't even know.... probably about 15 years at least. This year was extra special because my cousin Chrissy and her husband and two kids flew up from Oklahoma and another cousin, Rachel, her husband and three kids came over from thee coast, and we haven't all been together in FORever. I'd say it's been about 7 years since I have seen Rachel! So there were A LOT of people there! Over 100 easily! We enjoyed being outside (okay, the girls and Shawn enjoyed it......hahamotorhome for the trip! It was a HUGE blessing. And props go out to Chris and Chrissy and Cindy and Chad who tented it up with their toddlers..... no thanks! I'll let you guys be the brave ones to do that! :)
Well, my mind is going a bit blank since it's so late, so I think I will just move on to the pictures.....
Oh wait, I had better tell this story to anyone who hasn't heard it. Though if you have talked to my mom at all in the last week, I am sure you have heard it by now. She seems very proud of it and has been sharing it with everyone.... haha.
So........
KaeLee has bee doing GREAT at potty training. Though she still won't poop in the toilet, she has great control over her peeing abilities and has not had an accident in forever! (other than poop...). So one day last week, she was sitting on the toilet and had her legs spread open a bit further than normal. She was trying to watch. Then she started peeing and she looked up at me and said "I'm makin water!" and grinned as big as she could. She thought it was the coolest thing on earth. haha. It was hilarious! She is SO stinkin cute!
Oh, can I just say how thrilled I am for Scottie McCreery!?!?! I am SO glad it came down to him and Lauren in the finale. I really didn't care for Hailey. I would have been super happy for either Scottie or Lauren though! They are both the cutest, sweetest kids (yes, they are actual kids, and they are NOT in their 20's....) ;)
Anyway, on to the pictures......
Me and KaeLee on my birthday morning.
Me and Hannah opening my new TV!
KaeLee helping me open a gift during the BBQ
KaeLee helping to blow out the candle on the cake...
The girls are wearing their new skirts as hats..... silly girls!
Memorial Weekend..... so this is just our side of family.... my grandpa, my aunts and uncles, cousins and my cousins kids.....! We were missing 5 of us. There are 47 of us in this picture. From all of my extended family camping this weekend I think we had over 100 of us there easily!
Oops.... out of order.... KaeLee on my birthday
Hannah trying to open the sunscreen...
Mom, Dad, Kory, Konner, and Hannah..... sitting around camp after the taco feed
KaeLee and Hannah both loved Lucy the dog. And KaeLee really took a liking to Justin, one of my cousins..... she followed him around a lot. She seems to like that age a lot (he's only a year younger than my brother Konner...)
Auntie, uncle Milo and my Grandpa Heilman came up for the day on Sunday. My aunt joined in on the washer board tournament (playing here) and she and her teammate (my cousin Angie) got 3rd place! I, on the other hand, got out in the first round. But not without a good fight! Our one game took as long as two normal games.... haha.
Hannah looking so serious!
KaeLee coaxed uncle Kory into pushing her on the scooter. Although now learning how to actually ride a scooter is out the window because she thinks she will be pushed whenever she gets on one now!
KaeLee is on the GO!
Now Hannah manages to catch a ride from uncle Milo! What a little stinker she is! No one can say no to her! haha
KaeLee made a new friend, Ava. Ava is only a couple months older than her. They were walking around saying hi to everyone, and sharing their snacks.
My cousin's daughter, Kayla, going down the slide (the slide, by the way, was a great $10 find at a yardsale the weekend before! whoo hoo!)
My other cousin, Chrissy's, daughter Kate.
Hannah made a new friend too. This is Brynn. Let's see..... she is my dad's cousin's daughter.... haha.
KaeLee playing washers too!
Hannah found a ball!
And the tunnel!
KaeLee trying the scooter for herself!
Shawn helping Hannah down the slide. She does good at it by herself, but I don't trust her at all! That girls has NO fear and has been trying to go down on her stomach! And if people are around, she is too busy watching them instead of paying attention to what she's doing and about went over the side of it a few times! What a wild and crazy girl she is!
KaeLee found Justin and Lucy again!
Hannah looking silly...
And even sillier.... haha
KaeLee making grandma play Ring around the Rosie
KaeLee sits with Grandpa and Lita for a second before she's back on the go again!
Hannah made quick friends with Kayla, too!
She was quite the busy bee, as usual!
She was trying to show me a rock she found, but got a little too close.... haha. But I love that you can see her two front teeth here. She looks like a little rabbit..... haha
Well, that's all for now. I feel like I forgot to mention something. Owell. I'm sure I did. Well, have a great rest of the week everyone! Hopefully I will be back soon!
