First up, though, is her one year pictures that I had taken the week before her birthday...... and am quite late on getting them posted..... oops.
WARNING: If you are in a grumpy mood AT ALL, these are bound to make you smile! (and if they don't, I suggest you get some professional help....!) :)
what a little cutie she is!
So, Hannah, what have you been up to lately?
- Many times I say "you are the boy I never had..." haha. You love your cars and with the long hardwood hallway in the new house, we spend LOTS of time with the bin full of cars zooming them down the "runway" then trudging to the other side and zooming them back down. This could go on for hours if mommy didn't have other things to do (like make them some food to eat and change their poopy diapers!)
- You are wearing 18 month clothes; your 12 month clothes are all pretty much packed up now. :( I can no longer shop in the newborn section (newborn to 12 months)..... it makes mama really sad.
- You are still wearing a size 4 diaper. And wearing an overnight diaper as well still.
- At your 1 year appointment, you weighed in at 22.8 pounds. You're a growing girl! I believe you were 27" as well!
- You will eat anything we put in front of you. We haven't found anything that she WON'T eat yet! I am trying, though. I just wish I had 2 girls that ate like this! It would make my life a whole lot easier!
- You have become quite the good sleeper! You sleep through the night (FINALLY!! This is a new occurrence in the last couple of months, thanks to benadryl, which helps with your skin allergy, eczema, and keeps you from scratching so much you wake yourself up!)
- You go to bed at about 8:00 and, at the moment, either daddy or I have to stay up in your room until either you or your sister fall asleep (you share a room with KaeLee). Otherwise, you two will stand up in your beds and jibber-jabber back and forth and play peek-a-boo and won't go to sleep for another TWO hours! So for now, we sit up in your room and lay you back down every time you stand up, waiting for one of you to fall asleep. It can take anywhere from 15-30 minutes. Mommy and Daddy hate doing this and are trying to figure out a way for you two to get the sleep you need without us hovering over you. It reminds me of sleepovers I had a a little girl and we would spend most the night talking and giggling...... except we got to sleep in. You girls still wake up bright and early! If you did wake up later, I might not be so upset about the giggling and playing around....
- You LOVE animals!! Right now, you say "Ruff Ruff!!" for all animals, but we are working on that! If you see a kitty outside, you can't stop 'talking' about it and are constantly going back to the window to look for it! I can't imagine how you would be if we actually had a pet! I can't wait to take you back to the zoo! Maybe we'll make another trip there this summer....
- You love to DANCE! And you are so proud of yourself and look as though you KNOW you are the most beautiful girl ever! You are adorable when you twirl around and bob up and down! When I watch you dance, I feel like my face is going to rip, I am grinning so big!
- But you make mama really nervous all the time too! You are a fearless girl! When you twirl around, you seem to choose to do it, not in the middle of the open room, but right next to the glass TV stand, or next to the brick fireplace, or standing by the sharp corner of the wall, or under the table, or in the middle of a pile of toys...... and you are constantly falling and tripping over your own feet.... you are a clumsy little thing!
- You are also SO daring! You love to try and climb on EVERYTHING! I am surprised, though, that you haven't attempted to climb out of your crib yet! I am hoping you won't and we can keep you in there until at least the Fall!
- You LOVE water! In fact, mommy found a great deal on a water table for the back yard and I am going to go purchase it today! You are often found in the bathroom, up on the stepstool next to the sink and just waiting for me to find you and turn the water on for you to play with. You love to stand on the stool and wash your hands, just like your big sister, but your hands barely reach. You can only reach one hand under the water at a time. But, it is inevitable, that every time we are done washing hands, and I lift you down from the stool, you throw yourself on the ground and begin to cry. You can really get into it and kick your legs and scream..... I'm scared, thinking that this is WAY to early for you to know how to throw a fit! But I guess you learned from the expert..... your sister. haha
- You have just taken an interest in books. You really like the touch and feel books. We were convinced that you would never like books, but I think watching mommy and daddy and sissy reading all the time, you are finally starting to wonder what all the fuss is about. :)
- You have tried coloring many times, but really, I think you just like to sit at the table and "pretend" your coloring because you just want to be where your sister is and pretend that you are a big girl too!
- You love to be the center of attention! You are a little social butterfly! You have learned the word "Hi" and you are constantly winning people over when we go out shopping, by batting your eyelashes, tilting your head, showing your winning smile, waving and saying "HI!". You get lots of compliments! I never get tired of showing you off, either! :)
- You have never had any health issues (mommy thanks God for that every day!) but you have had your eczema, which has been really hard to watch you struggle with for so long! But your skin is finally starting to clear up and between the benadryl at night, the Renew lotion, the Renew body wash, and the cortizone, we feel like we are making progress and have found something that works for you. It does make me sad, though, that you can't enjoy bubble baths or use yummy smelling lotions! These are luxuries mommy has to live without as well, because we share the same skin problems. But, I will tell you that if you have to live with it for the rest of your life, like mommy, you learn to deal with it and find ways to cover it and soothe it. It's really the best "disease" a person could have, so in a way, we are lucky that that is our only "problem". It is my prayer, though, that they find a cure for it before you grow up!
- You seldomly like to be by yourself. You would much rather be in someone's arms or lap. And you have no fear of strangers and say "up!" to anyone who smiles at you! This also worries mama and will ensure that if we go anywhere crowded (perhaps the zoo this summer?), I will be getting a leash for you. I have always laughed at the sight of those and said I would never do that to my kid, but for you, my dear Hannah, it may be necessary.
- You are also a runner! (again, why I will be getting a leash...) You are constantly on the go and can NOT sit still for longer than 30 seconds! Even when you are in my lap (or anyone's) you are trying to climb all over me constantly and moving around everywhere. But if I set you down, you cry. Ugh. Sometimes, your frequent movements can be frustrating because we just want to sit and cuddle with you!
- You are talking so much. mostly just babble, but you know the following words: Hi, Up (your most frequently used!), Hannah, Boo!, Baby, Wow!, Vroom Vroom, Ruff Ruff, Amen, All done, All gone, Uh-oh, ni-night, and I am sure there are some others I am forgetting....
- In the last month, you have pooped in the tub THREE times! (two of which were last night and the night before!). It is quite disgusting and your sister is not too thrilled that her bath time gets cut short and she gets yanked out of the tub! But, I will allow you to just do it ONE more time, since it's daddy's turn to clean the tub next! ;)
- You love to go for walks in the stroller and I don't think I ever walk fast enough for you because you are always rocking your body saying "vroom vroom" and I think you are trying to make the stroller go faster.... haha.
- Your hair is growing! It is finally long enough to put into a spike after bath time! Daddy doesn't like it when I do that..... :) I can't wait till it's long enough for barretts and pigtails! :)
- You are quite the troublemaker and get into EVERYTHING you know you shouldn't! You are constantly finding things you shouldn't have, emptying out drawers and tissue boxes and containers of wipes, pushing over lamps, garbage cans, your basket of shoes, your toy bins, the bag of legos.... you sure know how to make a mess!
- You are LOVED so much and mommy and daddy LOVE you to pieces! We love to snuggle with you and we love you BIG OPEN-MOUTH kisses!! haha! We are enjoying every moment with you and watching you grow before our eyes! Though, we ARE waiting for you to become a bit more independent so that you can grow into yourself even more (and so mommy can get dinner cooked without a (now) 23 pounder hanging on my leg!) ;)
